Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Soundtrack Is Real And Contains 344 Tracks

Man, wish Nintendo would just bring all their stuff to Apple Music. or let us buy it on HDtracks for example. In third world countries importing a rare OST like this is out of the question, not to mention I moved to digital in the audio world like 15 years ago...

But hey, this is still nice for the targeted audience.

I'm about halfway through Tears of the Kingdom, and the single song that's really left an impact on me is the one played by the traveling band, which is honestly beautiful. The only others I can even remember off the top of my head are all from previous games.

I am not done with the Reqional Phenomena yet, but I love the music in this game!

@OctolingKing13 I have a feeling it'll be a launch title for the next console, a deluxe edition with extra story content. Can't decide if I think they'll put the extra content on the Switch version or not, they might try to funnel people to the new console by making it exclusive?

LMAO... there was a soundtrack in this game?? Theres's like 2 real songs that aren't ambient music and that's it. Terrible ost for a series well known for its music.

Love this soundtrack, that would be amazing, my favorite being Yunobo’s Theme. This would be awesome to officially own, hopefully the rumor is true!

@Anachronism There's some great pieces later in the game, I don't want to spoil anything but you'll know them when you hear them.

@Chopper25 Not really. We all know TOTK adds as many memorable themes to the Zelda compendium as the rest of the series.

Ambient roaming tunes are a fraction of what the game offers on the whole in terms of the entire soundtrack.

Shame they didnt add any DLC like bring back the powers from BOTW to combine with the TOTK ones for more mad experiments.

Or even just one up the bike.

Hero Mode
Master Sword upgrades
Better fuse menus
Fuse Weapons/shields with items from the pause menu.

Cool, is it a frame rate fix? Is it free DLC that makes the depths more varied?

Is it going to get an updated 11/10 review after this?

I quite like the game didn't receive post paid DLC. Won't feel so conflicted not updating my version past 1.12 or whatever it was when Nintendo started to patch duplication methods for a single player game that had no affect on others whether you took part in them or not.

@Denoloco I 100% agree with you. Nintendo is long overdue to put all their game music on the popular DSP’s for easy public streaming & playlisting. I really like that other publishers known for great music in their games like Square, Sega & Capcom have started to do this now more often.

Video Game Music as a whole needs to update with the times and release more of their OST catalogs digitally for sure.

I’d always hoped for TOTK DLC that added a true Loftwing (not a build) to the game that let you easily fly around traversing all 3 vertical layers of the world seamlessly & continuously without any barriers or interruption (similar to how BOTW added the Master Cycle).

Also a new Trials & Quest like BOTW DLC would obviously be welcome too. The world is so big, ripe & vast.. it’s set up pretty well to add even more cool content imo.

Interesting, what about a free DLC, like a nice outfit or something for us?

....OST....both BotW and TotK have like, very little tracks in the game to begin with...and most of them are forgettable.

@Adol-Bannings It is, but Columbia Records, as stated in the original post, is owned by Sony Corporation of America, which would still technically make it an American label (to say nothing of Columbia's original founding in Washington DC, way back in the day). I think the editors have since amended it to include "[Nippon] Columbia" after the original article was released. Nippon Columbia, I will happily concede, is a Japanese record label.

@wuntyme8 There aren't enough islands in the sky to make a loftwing worth it, sadly. I'm still hoping we'll get an improved version of TotK for the NS2, that restores a lot of the sky islands that were videntky cut from the game, but I'm not gonna be holding my breath.

@Kestrel i really think i would have liked my time with tears a LOT more if there were just more sky islands, and more unique ones at that. Seriously, just a few more great sky island-sized ones would have totally done it for me

Ugh... When is Nintendo finally going to just put their music online somewhere? Or just make it part of Nintendo Switch Online, put in in a phone app and let us listen to their tunes in some legal way. It's so frustrating how incredibly protective of their IPs they are, sometimes.

Tears of the Kingdom felt more like Breath of the Wild 2.0 indeed... However, it is far superior to the first game because it actually feels alive now. More things to do, better dungeons, better soundtrack.. It actually feels like a Zelda game now, unlike Breath of the Wild.

Breath of the Wild felt like a tech demo that wasn't quite finished yet. Boring, annoying, empty and quite frankly the worst mainline Zelda since Phantom Hourglass. I have no idea why so many people rate it so high. Oh well, guess standards are just low these days, huh?

Not the surprise I think most were hoping for. TOTK was a let down to me, not because it was a bad game but it didn't feel that different to BOTW. I didn't realise that would be an issue for me but it just didn't have that WOW factor that I have come to expect from the series. I also now miss the style of dungeons from OOT, hope they add some proper ones for the next game.

I literally just beat Ganondorf yesterday. Only took me about 230 hours, lol.

I’m umming and aging as to whether to go back and 100% that game. I did it with BotW and while it was rewarding, it was a heck of a slog

@Otoemetry They would never do that with Zelda. It would make it look like they weren't confident that the original version was a masterpiece. The closest they get to doing things like that is their remakes and HD remasters, but those release a decade+ later.

For as much as I truly, genuinely loved TotK the literal last thing I want from it is a soundtrack release. I can listen to the music in it on YouTube for free.

@nukatha Don't forget Loftwings! BOTW DLC was allowed to break the horse economy with the Sheikah motorcycle, so why not let TOTK DLC break the zonai mechanic a little with catching and stabling Loftwings? Catch and subdue a Loftwing just like a horse, fly it to new Loftwing stables exclusive to sky islands (that you build yourself!), and collect different ones! And add more flying enemies.

Also, we also need way more sky islands. I understand the concern of making the sky appear cluttered, but 1) the islands are already distorted to appear larger from the surface, so why not distort the perspective in the other direction, and 2) because of their fear they ended up adding too few sky islands for my tastes.

@Maubari I'll give it to you that BotW doesn't feel like a Zelda game. It's open, somewhat empty, and the entire concept of gameplay and story only exists if you hunt it down and take your time exploring the map. It kind of feels like going outside, camping in the wilderness.

However TotK feels even less like a Zelda game, with the majority of the quest being grinding enemy drops so you can purchase armor upgrades and Zonai parts. The dungeons are literally the same formula as BotW, just with minor aesthetic changes, and the gameplay is worse due to Zonai vehicles and the Rauru powers lessening the potential of puzzle solving/progression. All in all, the game feels like a more fleshed out, albeit linear, version of Minecraft.

It's absolutely fine to prefer TotK over BotW, but please don't refer to BotW as an unfinished beta. The two games go in completely different directions, with very different gameplay loops, even though they look very similar.

if you read the comment section of this website you'd think that Botw and Totk are some barely passable games or even tech demos... idk what games you guys have played because both games have given me some of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life. I'll never forget the first time i saw Hyrule on my switch day 1 or free falling from the sky islands in Totk... It's ok not to like something and yeah they might not be perfect games but sh**ing on them because it makes you sound cool feels a bit juvenile.

@Chopper25 There's barely no music when you wander around the overworld, but in the important places there are a lot of songs, man. Didn't you play the game at all? Not just this one, also BotW.

Get with the times Nintendo and release all your music catalogue on Spotify etc.

Trust me you will still make a killing releasing the music on special edition CDs/vinyl etc as well.

Crazy how Japan can sell a 3-song CD for like $15 (and songs 2 and 3 are karaoke variations of song 1), but still sell 9 discs for a relatively reasonable 13,200 yen.

344 tracks of WHAT exactly? There isn't that much music in the game surely. Can't we have a more concise 2 disc version without all the filler tracks? The Xenoblade 3 soundtrack is 9 discs and 144 tracks, which is a theme for pretty much every character plus a different theme for every colony/location both day and night.

This ST must feature a whole load of sound effects for it to be so long, and squeeze that many tracks on the same number of discs. Because there sure ain't as many musical scores in this as Xenoblade, I can tell you that.

Lmao the BOTW OST shot up on amazon Japan. Will shop around for the ost. It’s a pity I found out about this after I did my quarterly book run. Shipping from Japan is horrible. That being said I have been loving the recent OST releases. The packaging for the FE:E OST can fall down a well though.

Thanks for reminding me that Breath of the wild gave us Revali's theme and Rito village, I almost forgot that I love those tracks so much! Still probably a lot of music that doesn't do much for me since it's so 'in the background' and a lot of them pass by rather quick, but very impressive nevertheless-

@OctolingKing13 on the positive side, I haven't had a single reason to update the game since launch, since all Nintendo seems want to do is patch out fun and helpful glitches, in exchange for a very small handful of materials every now and then.

@Chopper25 Well, that's a bold statement to make. If anything it's wonderful that the game's soundtrack is reactive to the player's environment and scene. Then again, as a droid, you might not be very musically gifted.

@Takoda I was trying to be snarky with so many variations of the same theme, but yeah, there's absolutely powerful musical moments in these games. The first time I heard Kass as I was ascending Gerudo tower was so overwhelmingly beautiful to me that I was welling up with tears as I climbed and just listened to him play for a long while before finally speaking to him.

@Koda1000 There's a lot that are variations of the same song. Like every town theme has Morning, Daytime, Evening, and Night versions.

You might be lucky, but I am not sure. I was looking at the track list on Play Asia and I found a track called 3rd trailer BGM. To get this song you have to buy the limited edition, because the track is on the Master Sword USB stick.

@Bret Haha, it is a lot of the same thing with minor variations but it did remind me that some of the town themes and character themes are indeed great, even if they don't get used that much. Stiiiill not really that interested to have 9 discs with a lot of 'repeat' songs.

Holy moley! That's almost double that of Breath of the Wild! (which had a 5 CD soundtrack, and that's with an expensive season pass)

We jest about the supposed "lack of music" in BotW/TotK, but it's so intricately and seamlessly integrated into the experience that we take it for granted.

I'm surely I'll come to appreciate it all the more when it's all laid out for us in the OST.

You sold a great game for the crime of it being complete?

I for one am glad that we didn't get some overpriced "season pass" like the last game especially given how inconsequential the content was to the overall experience. I for one am more likely to not buy a game if there's DLC in the pipeline (as it's indicative of a heap of content that won't be on the cartridge).

When you import them, like the rest of us. CD sales are already shrinking rapidly in the West. Do you really think retailers are going to bother allocating shelf space to expensive, niche releases like this?

I wish we could buy them from our local My Nintendo online stores directly, but I think the publishers are well aware of just how many units these sorts of releases are likely to sell.

I do miss the more random soundtracks that we would get via Club Nintendo back in the day though (which I would have happily have paid for, rather than redeeming hard-to-obtain "coins").

Hard pass. Botw literally had just ambient sounds, dull. Totk is a bit better but music is hardly memorable in this game.

Kind of pathetic how everyone unwittingly reveals how little they actually played the game when they complain about the lack of music. TOTK is chalk full of songs, but you'll never hear it if you only were messing around in the overworld for a few hours before dropping the game. Yeah, TOTK sure might feel indistinguishable to BOTW, but only if you quit the game before experiencing 85% of the rest of the game.

Supposedly a sizable percentage of people who bought TOTK never even played past the Great Sky Island tutorial, let alone get far enough into the story to feel the weight of TOTK's sheer depth of content.

Preordered that limited edition. I love the heck out of the BOTW first edition ost, that field music player was such a cool extra. And I'm totally fine with people underestimating these soundtracks; it makes getting the limited editions so much easier. The yen being so weak to the dollar right now is a nice bonus.

I have the botw soundtrack, but i mostly listen to the skyward sword one. Or the concert, or link between worlds, etc.

Limited has one with phone pouch. Not sure but they were the same price listing. The bas seems like they block any cancellation after the order. Ugh...
